I’m going to tell you a little about my new little venture with exercise and eating right.
About 5 weeks ago I bought a Fitbit. What’s a Fitbit? It’s a device you can wear as a bracelet. It tracks your steps taken each day, your sleep patterns, your calorie intake, your weight loss goals, it has a silent alarm that vibrates to wake you up (and not everyone else in the house that you’re trying to sneak away from), and so much more! You can even “friend” your friends on your device and watch their progress too. So you can see how many steps your husband or kids have taken. And there’s a great app on your phone that helps you track everything. It’s so much fun and SO motivating! Here is a picture of it below:
And WHY would you want to do this?
It has been a huge motivator for me and my daughter. We literally did NO exercise at all. I had a thousand excuses of why I couldn’t exercise. The biggest excuse was “no time”. And let me tell you, it was a very GOOD excuse. But it’s still an excuse. If it’s important to you, you will find the time.
So we have been getting up at 5am every single morning for the last 5 weeks. Now let me explain…I get up at 5am, we’re out the door by 5:15am, and back home by 6am. When I walk back into the house, I do a load of dishes, take out the trash, clean off the counters, and throw one load of laundry in. So by 6:30am…I’ve walked 2-3 miles AND done all those chores! I take a shower at 6:30am when my husband wakes up and I’m 100% done and ready to start my day by 7am. BAM!
That sounds exhausting, right? I can tell you I have never felt more motivated in my LIFE! I feel like I accomplish more things in those 2 hours than I did in a whole WEEK before! I have 5 children. And my biggest excuse is my 1 year and 2-year-old. Because when those little feet hit the ground running in the morning, “my time” is over. So I just had to beat them at their own game and get up BEFORE them. It’s worked like a charm!
I’m happier, I’m 10 times more productive, and its lead to my entire family making better decisions. My 14-year-old daughter does all of this with me (and my husband is the one who got us started on the Fitbit). She is now eating HEALTHY and tracking her diet and intake. She’s also learning about exercise and she goes out of her way each day to get “more steps” on the Fitbit. It’s amazing!

And because we’re slightly obsessed, we found these cute bands on amazon.com that you can change to 🙂 All you need to do is search “fitbit bands” on amazon and a ton will pop up. They come in sets and they’re totally affordable. Now, the Fitbit Flex, which is what is pictured above, will set you back $82 I believe. I think that’s what I got my mom’s for on amazon prime. you can go to Dick’s, Target, Meijer, and Best Buy to grab them too, but they’re going to run you about $120 there I think. I’m telling you, I think it’s quite possibly the best investment I’ve ever made.

So then along comes my friend Tiffany Wellinghoff again. Oh how I love my little midget friend! She first introduced me to my favorite beer, Blue Moon. So she’s forever best friend status by laws of nature (and beer). So a week after I got my Fitbit, she told me to check out this app called C25K. I immediately started involuntarily twitching at the sound of 5K. This is coming from me…the person who has eaten Cheetos, a hostess cupcake, and a mountain dew for breakfast for the last 20 years. And on a good day…I had it for lunch too! You think I’m kidding, but my friends just spit out their drink cause they know it’s true. LOL
So 4 weeks ago, my daughter and I decided we’d try the C25K app. It stands for “Couch to 5K”. Which is literally what it does. You can be a total couch potato…and it takes you through a 6 week program (3 days a week), until you’re running/jogging a 5K. Now, initially, I thought, yeah right. Can’t hurt to try. 4 weeks later…I am insanely proud of myself and my daughter for what we have already accomplished. And just a couple of days ago…we signed up for our very first 5K marathon at the end of August. SAY WHAT?!!! Yep!
This app starts you out in slow bits and increments of walking more and just a few quick bursts of jogging. And each week the jogging time increases. So you can accomplish WAY more than you think, because it builds you up slowly.

So what does all this have to do with Direct Sales?
Well, everything I do has something to do with Direct Sales 🙂 But here’s the deal. I could have continued making excuses of no time, too many kids, blah blah blah. But I’m a “no excuses” kind of girl. If you want it, make it happen. Beat the clock. It may be hard at first, getting up before everyone else in the house…but now…my alarm doesn’t even have to go off. I get up on my own at that time. In just 5 weeks!
Can’t do the morning? Go at night when they go to bed. You don’t have to do the C25K…just start WALKING! You will be amazed by how it will change your life to get up and walk every day. You will get so much more accomplished each day. You’ll be more motivated. You’ll be more FOCUSED. And by 7am, you’re ready to take on the world…or even more difficult, you’ll be ready to take on a 1 yr old and a 2 yr old! My mood is better, my eating is better, my FAMILY is better. It has truly changed my life in just 5 weeks.
So…give it a try. Your body will thank you. Your business will thank you. Your family will thank you! And you will be very glad you did!
